Parametric Modelling and Optimization of Alkaline Electrolyzer for the Production of Green Hydrogen

Abstract Electrolysis is the process of decomposition liquid, containing ions by passing electricity through it. This achieved an electrolyzer. An alkaline water electrolyzer uses electrical energy to break chemical bond between hydrogen and oxygen in electrolytic medium. The performance depends upon various parameters like temperature, pressure, ohmic overpotential, activation etc. In this study, that affect are identified integrated using fundamental thermodynamics electrochemical equations. A mathematical model created MATLAB/SIMULINK analyse voltage vs current density plot attempt made optimize variation parameters. It was observed increasing operating temperature decreasing pressure favours electrolysis process. Also, 30 wt% KOH solution as electrolyte exhibits optimal cell compared 20 40 solutions.
